Art Direction & WordPress Build

Project Overview

Completed in collaboration with a fellow UI/UX Designer, Brittney Day, this site was completed for a husband and wife legal team just beginning their joint firm and sought a way to easily introduce themselves to interested clients and collect leads with a contact form. Only the wife held experience as an independent firm and we were able to consolidate some elements and information from her site to carry over to the new build.

My roles in the project were to facilitate the sale of the website building service, act as art director, and complete the build of the website.

Tools used for this project include:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Affinity Designer
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • WordPress Builder (Elementor Plug-in)

Site Mock-ups

After completing the sale and finalizing details of a contract, the second designer and myself focused our efforts on identifying key visual and functional aspects that the client required in their new site. According to the clients, the primary function of the site for them is to serve as a "pre-meeting" introduction to new and potential clients. Providing them with an overview of the couple's services, experience, processes, and a way for them to be contacted. Amara and John expressed interest in keeping the burgundy color from Amara's independent website, but beyond that, we were given creative freedom to design how we saw fit.

With this information in mind, my colleague created a sample home page to serve as a style-scape that was approved by the client. Brittney then spent time creating a series of high-fidelity mock-ups and a style guide, seen below, that she passed on to me to begin the development in WordPress.

WordPress Build

Equipped with the detailed mock-ups and style guide, I was able to complete the build of the site in WordPress CMS for both desktop and mobile layouts. At the end of the build, I spent some time with John & Amara to teach them how to manage the CMS and make simple edits to the site as needed.

**NOTE** the clients did not retain my services for the day-to-day upkeep of the site and errors may be present on the site that were not at the initial build.
